THE ONE NIGHT CHOIR IS FULL!

Due to high demand, we have reached our capacity for this event - we're very excited about this and already discussing the possibility of a second One Night Choir. Stay Tuned!

What is the One Night Choir?

Inspired by the Gaia Music Collective in NYC and hosted by Chinook Winds Chorus in Calgary, the One Night Choir is an opportunity to sing in a chorus for one night only. There is no audition, no long-term commitment, and no pressure to be perfect - just a chance to make music and possibly some new friends!

How It Works

When you  sign up using the contact form at the bottom of this page, you will receive sheet music as well as vocal recordings of all the voice parts. No music reading skills are required - you can learn by listening, just like you learn to sing along with songs on the radio!

Our collective goal is to practice our parts ahead of time so we can spend the evening diving into the fun stuff. You don't need to memorize it all or know it by heart - you can hold your music while we sing - but the more prepared we are coming into it, the more we get to sing and perform.

Once you arrive at the rehearsal hall (conveniently located near 17th Ave SW), we will start the evening with a vocal warmup, and then begin working through the song together, and sing it all the way through by the end of the night!

The Song

"Cover Me In Sunshine" by P!nk and Willow Sage Hart

"Cover  Me In Sunshine" was recorded by P!nk and her daughter Willow at their home in California. They decided to release it as a single for one reason only; hoping it would make people happy when they heard it.

With an uplifting melody and a positive message, it's the perfect song for a One Night Choir - who couldn't use a bit of positivity in their life?

We will be singing the song a cappella - no instruments, only our voices!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at onenightchoiryyc@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Whether you are a vocal veteran or have never sung in a group before, you are welcome here! The arrangement we're using is best suited for folks who sing in the Soprano/ Alto range - often referred to as "women's voices", but we know that gender doesn't necessarily dictate your vocal range.

Yes! We provide "Learning Tracks" - vocal recordings of each voice part, as well as our best song learning tips and tricks suited to many different learning styles. You can do this!

Pick the one that feels the most comfortable for you, either by looking at the sheet music or listening to the recordings. If you know you have a low voice (think Adele, Stevie Nicks, Lana Del Rey), you might want to sing Bass. If you love to sing cool harmonies and usually harmonize below or around the melody, Baritone is the part for you! If you have a light, high voice and you like to harmonize - pick Tenor. And if you just want to sing Pink's line - be a Lead! Still unsure? Just ask, and we'll help you choose.

We know this can be confusing - in short, the song is arranged in the Barbershop style - lovingly referred to as "barber-pop". In this style of a cappella, no matter the gender of the singers, the voice parts are named "Bass/ Baritone/ Lead/ Tenor" - but can be sung in any range depending on the ensemble.

No - this is a one time event. We believe everyone deserves to sing and we want to provide a place for that to happen.

However, if you enjoy the evening and want to come back, we will be offering 4 weeks of free singing instruction following the One Night Choir. We'll learn more about vocal skills, a cappella music and the Barbershop style, and we will spend more time working on Cover Me In Sunshine as it will become part of our repertoire. We'd be thrilled to have you!

No - our members will be given the music and tracks just like you, and are expected to learn the song independently. We are all coming into this one night event at the same level - this is what makes it so exciting!
